You must learn one thing.
The world was made to be free in.
Give up all other worlds
except the one to which you belong.
anything or anyone
that does not bring you alive
is too small for you
-David Whyte (excerpted from Sweet Darkness)
The worst limitations we live with are the ones we create for ourselves. We limit ourselves with beliefs that are inaccurate and untested.
When I was younger, I imprisoned myself in an abusive relationship. I say, imprisoned myself because unlike many people in similar situations, I had all kinds of avenues for release that I kept myself blind to because of my own limiting beliefs and fears The door to the prison had been open but my fears blinded me so that I could not see it.
In my coaching work, true transformation takes place when I am able to help my clients identify the beliefs that are preventing them from moving forward to where and who they want to be and what they want to do the beliefs that keep them imprisoned in worlds that do not allow them to expand into their full potential.
Are you living in a world that is too small for you? Are you limiting yourself with beliefs/assumptions that are untested? Who would you be if those assumptions were not true?
Peace and joy,
Deb
Deb,
I think this post is particularly meaningful and on so many levels. Its significance plays out in assessing our vision, our beliefs, our values, and creativity among so many other aspects of life. A message always worth keeping in the back of my mind.
Nice to hear from you, Duff.
