I run a monthly Executive Director’s Roundtable in New York City (in conjunction with the Nonprofit Coordinating Committee of New York). This Learning and Support Group, open to executive directors of nonprofit organizations only, is designed to provide non-profit leaders with:
(1) peer support to reduce isolation,
(2) best practices to improve effectiveness, and
(3) networking opportunities.
The Group, which meets monthly has been described as follows:
“The networking opportunity offered by the Executive Director’s Roundtable is wonderful.the other participants help me feel less alone at the top. Additionally, because of her extensive knowledge of all aspects of leadership and non-profits, Deb Howard facilitates our discussions so we stay focused, learn and grow.”
The monthly meetings are designed to enable professional development, learning, and support. Participants are encouraged to come to each session with a particular goal and/or issue they would like to work on.
Based on each individual’s preferences, the group helps them clarify their goals, and/or work on particular issues as either a case study for analysis and discussion or a role play to help explore how best to handle the situation.
